LANDA

The Office of the future will require a variety of meeting spaces for both formal and informal situations. Born from a material driven design process, Landa forms an anchor point where individuals can relax and interact. The shape of the central table creates a focal point around which people can gather, and the modules may also be combined with other units. In this project we prolonge the usefulness of a material beyond its typical life cycle. The idea came from the intent to use the materials that already existed at Edsbyverken, as well as the desire to challenge the way both the production chain and combustible materials are perceived.

As a nod to history, the shape is inspired by the classical wallpaper patterns found in Hälsingland’s old farmhouses. This piece is described as a “touchdown” space for the modern office.

The material is “waste re-made,” referred to as WRM, and is manufactured by hot pressing pellets from Edsbyverkens discarded scraps. The result is a method to save and use materials once more that otherwise would have been lost.
